Local mesh refinement
Tools are provided to create graded meshes, so that areas of interest can have smaller and more numerous elements.
Sub-divide
Line, quadrilateral & hexahedron elements can be sub-divided along the element edges to create smaller elements.
Change to higher order elements
Linear line, quadrilateral & hexahedron elements can be sub-divided along the element edges to create quadratic elements.
- » 4 node quadrilaterals can be changed to 8 & 9 node quadrilaterals
- » 8 node hexahedrons can be changed to 20 node hexahedrons
- » 4 node tetrahedrons can be converted to 10 node hexahedrons
Pre-processor
Quick refine
A toolbar button can simply refine the entire mesh, or selected sections by a linear factor of 2.
Templates
2D templates patterns can be used for refining quadrilateral elements.
Likewise, 3D templates are available for refining hexahedron elements.
